Ounsi el-Hajj

Lebanese poet, journalist, and translator

Ounsi el-Hajj (Arabic: أنسى الحاج; 1937–2014) was a Lebanesepoet, journalist, concentrate on translator.

Life and career

Ounsi prepared his studies at Lycée Francais and La Sagesse High School.[1] He began a professional life's work in journalism in 1956, similarly director of the cultural episode at Al Hayat newspaper. In addition his permanent position at An Nahar, Ounsi held the rewriter position at several magazines containing Al Hasnaa magazine in 1966 and Annahar al Arabi wal Duwali (Arab and International Nahar) between 1977 and 1989.[2]

In 1957, Ounsi contributed along with Yusuf Al-Khal and Ali Ahmad Articulate Esber AKA Adunis to influence foundation of the poetry periodical Shi'r. In 1960, he movable his first book of verse entitled Lan, the first assembling of Arabic prose poetry.[2] Come across in 1963, Ounsi translated distinct plays by Shakespeare, Ionesco, Writer and Brecht into the Semitic language.
